My body is healthy, so does that mean I don’t need hydrogen?

Rate your health on a scale of 1-10. How would you rate your health? I hope everyone scores close to 10. Because physical health fluctuates over time, it’s inextricably linked to recent factors like diet, exercise, mood, and environment. Various biochemical reactions are constantly occurring within our bodies, maintaining metabolism and keeping the internal environment relatively stable.

During human metabolism, cells undergo energy metabolism and redox reactions, and electrons transfer between carrier molecules. This occasionally produces unpaired electron intermediates, which form free radicals. Common pathways include "leaked" electrons in the mitochondrial electron transport chain combining with oxygen molecules to form superoxide radicals. Lipid and amino acid-related free radicals can also be generated during lipid and protein metabolism. Excessive free radicals can cause oxidative damage to DNA, lipids, and proteins, contributing to the development and progression of atherosclerosis, inflammation, and neurodegenerative diseases. However, not all free radicals are harmful. Moderate amounts of free radicals play a role in cell signaling, immune responses, and embryonic development. When reactive oxygen species (ROS) are produced excessively in the body, exceeding the antioxidant system’s ability to scavenge them, oxidative stress occurs, leading to elevated free radical levels and the development of various inflammations and diseases.

So how can we address the harmful free radicals in the body that don’t participate in normal biological reactions? The most common approach is to supplement with vitamin C, the most well-known antioxidant. However, vitamin C’s large molecular size limits its absorption rate, and it cannot distinguish between free radicals that are beneficial or harmful to normal human function. Hydrogen, on the other hand, is the only known substance in nature that can selectively scavenge harmful free radicals.(reports details you can refer to)

Hydrogen is harmless to the human body. Common methods include direct hydrogen inhalation, drinking hydrogen water, taking hydrogen baths, and injecting high-concentration hydrogen molecule saline. Different methods address different issues. If you’re interested, please follow us and we’ll continue to share the latest research on hydrogen health.

The principles of hydrogen’s effects are as follows:

1. Selective antioxidant: Hydrogen is considered to have "selective antioxidant" properties. It effectively scavenges harmful reactive oxygen free radicals (RORs) in the body (such as hydroxyl radicals ·OH and peroxynitrite anions ONOO⁻), but these effects may not affect other important redox reactions and signaling species (such as hydrogen peroxide H₂O₂ and superoxide anions O₂⁻·). This means that hydrogen can theoretically reduce cellular damage caused by oxidative stress without disrupting the body’s redox balance.

2. Anti-inflammatory effects: Chronic inflammation is a common foundation for many chronic diseases. Studies have found that hydrogen can "inhibit the activation of some key inflammatory pathways and inflammasomes (such as the NLRP3 inflammasome)," thereby reducing the production of proinflammatory cytokines (such as IL-1β and IL-18). By alleviating low-grade chronic inflammation, hydrogen may play a role in preventing inflammatory-related diseases.

3. Anti-apoptosis: Hydrogen has shown some "anti-apoptotic (programmed cell death) potential," which may help protect cells from damage caused by certain stressors.

4. Modulating signaling pathways: Hydrogen may also "modulate some cellular signaling pathways," such as the Nrf2/HO-1 pathway, thereby enhancing cells’ self-protective capacity.

5. Improving metabolism: Some studies have shown that hydrogen may have positive effects on "lipid metabolism and glucose metabolism." For example, one study found that healthy women who inhaled hydrogen had increased resting fat oxidation. Animal studies and some human studies also suggest that hydrogen may improve lipid and carbohydrate metabolism in individuals with impaired glucose tolerance.
